한국에서도 그렇듯이 뉴질랜드에서도 오클랜드 시티와 가까운 곳에 좋은 교육 학군이 자리잡고 있습니다.  예를 들어 마운트 이든, 엡섬 리뮤에라가 대표적인 부자 동네 들로서, 이곳에는 이름이 잘 알려진 초등하교들로부터 고등학교 그리고 오클랜드 교육 대학 캠퍼스가 다양하게 있습니다.

리무에라 프라이머리 스쿨은 놀라울 정도로 오랜 역사를 가지고 있습니다. 원래 조그마한 교회로 시작 하였고, 1906년쯤 440명 정도의 학생을 수용하기 시작해서 1909년에 다시 부족한 공간을 위해 새 건물로 증축 하였습니다. 1980년대에 이르러서야 현대식 시설을 갖추기 시작하여 지금의 학교는 1982년에 완공 되었습니다.

리무에라 초등학교는 1학년에서 6학년 까지 약 700며의 학생을 수용하고 있으며, 교육 뿐 아니라 다양한 문화, 그리고 스포츠를 위해 노력하고 있으며, 영어가 모국어가 아닌 학생들을 위해 ESOL프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다.  Year 1부터 시작하여 6까지 레벨이 비슷한 소수 그룹의 학생들이 모여서 집중적이고 철저한 영어 공부를 하게 됩니다. 일주일에 4개의 세션이 있고 ㅇEsol을 담당하는 선생님들은 모두 전문 강사입니다.

리무에라 초등학교는 학생들을 위해 도서관을 운영 중입니다. 책을 빌리 뿐 아니라 퍼즐게임을 하고 신문을 읽으며, 숙제와 리서치를 할 수 있는 공간으로 구성되었습니다.

스포츠는 리무에라 초등학교에게 매우 중요합니다. 매 학기 마다 다른 종류의 스포츠를 접할 수 있으며, 특히 본교에서는 방과 후에 많은 스포츠 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다. 그 외 6학년 학생들은 1주에 한 번 제2외국어를 공부 합니다.

방과후 프로그램은 3시부터 6시까지 교내에서 진행되며, 월-미술, 화-음악과 드라마,수-스포츠,목-테크놀로지,금-좋아하는 과목 선택을 할 수 있습니다.

모든 학생들은 학교에서 점심을 사 먹을 수 있으며, 대표적인 에로 서브웨이 샌드위치 입니다. 이는 뉴질랜드에서 인기가 많은 샌드위치 레스토랑의 하나로 다양한 센드위치를 경험할 수 있습니다. 그리고 매주 수요일은 초밥과 소시지 등 다양한 음식이 제공이 됩니다.

마지막으로 본교는 자체적인 스쿨 버스를 운영하고 있습니다.

Organisation

The school is divided into three mini schools (Junior, Middle & Senior School), with each spanning two year levels. Each year level is led by a senior teacher who is responsible for the teachers and curriculum delivery for that year level.

At RPS we follow the New Zealand National Curriculum and endeavor to integrate student learning to make more meaningful connections where ever possible. Literacy is seen as being vitally important at RPS. Literacy includes reading, writing and oral language. The school has strict guidelines for teachers outlining the frequency of literacy lessons and their structure. Professional development for teachers in this area is given a high priority.

With a large variance in reading and writing abilities within any class, teaching in literacy is done in small groups to meet the needs of individuals. Progress of children is continually tracked and their next steps identified.

언어 능력은 리무에라 초등학교에서 눈에 보이게 강조 할 만큼 중요합니다. 언어능력에는 읽기, 쓰기 그리고 말하기가 있습니다.  본교는 언어능력 수업의 빈도와 체계에 대해서 윤곽을 잡기 위해 교사들에게 엄격한 지표를 제시합니다.이 분야에 대한 교사들의 전문성 개발은 높은 우선 순위를 차지 합니다.

Mathematics

As it is one of the three core subjects, effective teaching in mathematics is a priority at Remuera Primary School. Our commitment to working with children to progress their mathematical thinking is underpinned by the following principles:

세 가지 필수 과목 중 하나로서 수학의 효과적인 교육은 리무에라 초등학교의 급선무 이기도 합니다. 우리의 목표는 아동들과 함께 그들의 수리적 사고 방식에 대해 아래 원리들과 함께 기초를 보강해 주는 것입니다.

Class programs are structured and well resourced, with teachers setting clear targets and monitoring children's performance as they strive to meet them. Students are also involved in setting their own goals in this subject. Numeracy progressions are based on the structures outlined in the Ministry of Education's Numeracy Project books.

리무에라 초등학교의 프로그램은 잘 목표선정을 분명히 하고 아동들이 그 목표를 충족 시킬 수 있도록 학생들의 활동을 모니터링 하시는 선생님들로 잘 구성되었습니다.  학생들 또한 교과목에서 자신들의 목표를 스스로 설정합니다. 수리력 발달은 교육청의 수리력 프로젝트 교과에 의해 구성된 내용으로 진행 됩니다.  

Remuera Primary is a mathletics school, meaning that we use the web-based mathletics program to support and enhance our children's learning in mathematics. All children are given an access password on enrolment and teachers tailor the program to meet students' needs. The program is fun and challenging, with an emphasis on teaching the children basic numeracy skills and developing content knowledge in mathematics 'strands' such as geometry and measurement.

For our more able mathematicians we provide enrichment classes - Mindlab and GATE Mathematics, and a support class - Booster Mathematics. All three of these classes are for Year 3-6 students and are conducted by our vastly experienced specialist mathematics teacher Mr Geoff Woolford. They are run on Wednesdays and involve groups of 12-15 students working in another room with peers who have the same needs.

We aim to challenge our high performing students and provide a range of opportunities for them to express their gifts and talents. On top of in-class grouping and differentiation to cater for the range of needs and abilities, we have the following enrichment groups running outside the classroom for Year 3 to 6 students:

GATE Science 과학 특기반

GATE Science is a fun, 'hands-on' program in which children get to develop their skills and knowledge in the subject through experimentation and focused study. Sessions are 45 minutes long per year group and class size is limited to 12 children. Lessons run in the first half of the year and are conducted by Associate Principal, Mr Mark Hassall.

Epic Minds 작시 특기반

Epic Minds is an innovative in-school methodology for the development of thinking abilities and life skills through strategy games. Lessons are conducted by specialist Epic Minds teacher Mrs. Marilyn Stafford. Sessions are 45 minutes long per year group and class size is limited to 20 children.

Epic Mind(작시 반)는 전략 게임을 통한 생활 능력과 사고 능력을 발달 시키는 혁식적 교내 활동입니다. 교습은 특별한 Epic Mind 선생님이신 Marilyn Stafford에 의해 진행 됩니다. 수업 시간은 45분으로 학년별 학급과 학생 수는 20명으로 제한 됩니다.

Seminar Days 세미나 데이

These cross curricular days are run throughout the year for selected groups of 12-15 students. Seminar Days in the past have explored cooking, photography, the language of Shakespeare, French language, journalism and stop motion animation.

Selection for the groups carried out by teachers is broadly based on the following criteria.

What are ICAS Examinations?

ICAS Examinations are multi-choice assessments in a range of subjects overseen by Educational Assessment Australia (EAA), a not-for-profit provider of education, training and advisory owned by the University of New South Wales. Although Australia-based, these examinations have become popular in New Zealand in the past decade due to the EAA's commitment to excellence and endeavour to provide a wealth of information for teachers, parents and schools.

Taking part in the ICAS Examinations is optional at Remuera Primary School. Year 4 to 6 students are given the option of sitting three examinations (Science, Mathematics and English) as a package. Students in GATE Writing are also given the option of sitting the ICAS Writing Examination. Examinations take place on specific dates in Terms Two and Three.

There is a cost to parents for taking part and registration forms are sent out each year, early in Term One.

Why do we take part in the ICAS Examinations?

While these examinations are not based on the New Zealand Curriculum, and drawing comparisons between results on an ICAS assessment and those on a New Zealand Curriculum assessment is not always appropriate, the examinations do offer the following benefits.

• Individual student results papers are accessible to parents and teachers. These contain detailed diagnostic data allowing an analysis of strengths and weaknesses in a given subject
• Taking part gives students experience in sitting large scale examinations and practising test-sitting skills such as time management and 'the process of elimination'
• The structured certification gives the students something to aspire to in terms of their scores
• Results show the students' relative position in the New Zealand test population
• The children receive a full colour test booklet and individual results can be accessed online by using a password

All students who take part in the examinations are given one of the following awards for each subject, depending on how well they perform.

Students with the top score in NZ in each subject will also receive a winner's medal and invitation to a special presentation ceremony.

Learning Support

We aim to support our students who are struggling to make satisfactory progress. Children who require support are catered for by a group of highly committed staff including the Special Needs Coordinator, the Associate Principals, support teachers across the school and teacher aides. We also utilize the expertise of outside specialists on a regular basis.

For those children who require it, we timetable regular IEP meetings (individual education plan). The team involved in supporting the child will discuss how the child is going, what their next steps are, and how those goals can be achieved.

At RPS we run a variety of support programs to assist these children. If your child is part of any of these programs you will be notified by letter.

Intervention Groups  참여 그룹

We have 3 part-time teachers across the school who work with small groups of children in one of the core subjects, providing additional support to that which the children receive in class.

Rocket Reading 로켓 읽기(읽기 심화 학습)

Through the dedication of a small group of parents we are able to offer individual reading support to children in Years 3-6 who require extra mileage in reading and who lack confidence.

Booster Maths 수학 보조 학습

If your child requires support with Math in Years 3-6, we have a specialist Math teacher who runs classes once a week.

3-6학년 사의의 아동들이 추가적인 수학 수업 지원이 필요하다면 수학 전문 선생님이 일 주에 한 번 보조 지원을 해 주고 있습니다.

 

The Library 도서관

Our library is a welcoming, comfortable, lively and cheerful place within our school. It is a place to read, do puzzles, check out the newspaper, finish homework, research topics, discuss books and what we are reading.

There are current topic displays to support classroom learning. The school librarian works alongside students and teachers, helping them to access relevant and challenging books.

We encourage every student to have a sense of ownership and belonging in our library space - everyone is welcome.

ICT - Information Communication Technology

정보 전달기술

Information Communication Technology is very important to our learning platform at Remuera Primary School. In addition to having a suite of computers most classes have at least three computers available for student use.

In recent years we have made a strategic move to invest more in handheld technology. Students now use IPads, Netbooks and IPods to access information and research portals via the school's wireless network.

리무에라 초등학교의 배움에 있어서 정보 전달 기술은 매우 중요합니다. 적합한 컴퓨터 시설을 갖추기 위해 모든 교실은 학생들이 사용할 수 있는 최소한 3대의 컴퓨터를 지원합니다.

최근에는 실질적인 기술 지원을 위해 더 투자하는 전략을 펼치고 있습니다. 그리하여 현재 학생들이 학교 무선 인터넷 망을 통해정보를 열람하고 조사 포털을 접속할 때 ipad, netbook 그리고 ipod를 사용하고 있습니다.

 

Remuera Sport 리무에라 스포츠

This is a school committee made up of parents and a lead teacher that organizes a variety of sports for children to take part in outside the school hours. Children are able to choose from a range of sports including soccer, netball, hockey, touch rugby and flippa-ball. Notices are sent home with newsletters regarding registration and cost.

이 프로그램은 학교 위원회에서 아동들이 방과 후 시간을 다양한 스포츠로 보낼 수 있도록 부모님들을 통해 만들고 교사들을 통해 관리되는 프로그램입니다. 아동들은 축구, 배구, 하키,터치 럭비 그리고 수구에 이르는 스포츠를 선택할 수 있습니다.  등록 및 비용에 대한 통지는 학교 소식지와 함께 전달 됩니다.

 

Music 음악

The school employs a part- time specialist music teacher who works with all students. The school choir is very strong and participates each year in the APPA Music Festival. We also have a range of musical groups that play an important part in the music program.

Extra-Curricular Activities 교과 외 활동

Extra-curricular activities offered vary slightly from season to season. As well as sports activities run by the school there may be some independently run courses such as Soccer, Dancing, Speech and Drama, Performing Arts, Music and Art School. Information about courses and enrolments are often posted in newsletters or on the school website. A large team of parents is involved as coaches and managers, and new helpers are always most welcome.

Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC)

Class trips and camps play an important part in the school program. Consent forms are always included when you are notified of an out of school activity. It is important that these are signed and returned to the school. Safety is paramount when it comes to EOTC and parents are always needed to help with trips and camps. Please be generous with your time if possible. Currently we have a one night Year 5 camp and a three night Year 6 camp, both held in the first term. Year 6 children also have the opportunity to take part in 'Waterwise', a sailing and water safety program that takes place at Okahu Bay.

Remuera Primary School accepts applications from foreign fee paying students who are of the correct age and will be living with a parent. Acceptance of these students will be at the discretion of the Principal and Board of Trustees. Students must hold a current student visa before beginning school.

수학 여행과 캠프는 학교 프로그램에서 중요한 역할을 차지 합니다. 학교 활동에 대해서는 항상 consent form과 함께 공지 됩니다. 이 폼에 서명하여 학교로 전달 되는 것은 매우 중요합니다. 안전은 야외 학습 프로그램에서 가장 중요하며 항상 부모님들의 도움을 필요로 합니다. 그러므로 부모님들께 시간을 내 주심에 있어 관대하시기를 당부 드리는 바입니다.

본교는 5학년 학생을 대상으로 일박 캠프 프로그램을 운영하며 6학년 학생을 대상으로는 3박 캠프를 운영합니다. 이 프로그램들은 모두 첫 번째 학기(term)에 개최됩니다. 6학년 학생들은 또한 Okahu Bay에서 조정 및 수상 안전 프로그램인 ‘waterwise’에 참여 할 수 있습니다.

리무에라 초등학교는 적절한 나이이며 학부모님들과 함께 거주하는 국제 학생들에게 등록 할 수 있도록 합니다. 학생들의 참여 허가는 교장과 학교 위원회의 결정에 따릅니다. 학생들은 학교 시작 이전에 유효한 학생 비자를 소지 하여야 합니다.

외국어 모국어 사용자를 위한 영어 수업

The ESOL program caters for Years 1-6. We operate a withdrawal program where small groups of children with similar abilities receive intensive language acquisition work. These groups receive between 1-4 sessions per week according to their needs. These programs are run by a qualified ESOL teacher.

ESOL프로그램은 1학년에서 6학년에게 전반적으로 제공이 됩니다. 본 수업은 집중 영어 추가 과제를 받은 비슷한 수준의 학생들을 소규모 그룹으로 구성하여 본 수업은 진행 됩니다. 이 학생들은 필요에 의해 한 주에 1-4 세션의 수업을 받게 됩니다. 또한 인증된 ESOL 교사에 의해 운영됩니다.
